Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton and many others cited him as one of the major influences, he was mainstay ofHowlin' Wolf band although played for a short time in Muddy Waters Blues Band. Today he is one of the legends of Chicago Blues.
Hubert Sumlin started solo career when he was over forty and during 30+ years recorded just more then a dozen albums. This one was recorded in London, UK in 1990 and rooted Sumlin's place on modern Blues scene. You can't find here fiery guitar solos or playing to burn strings. On the contrary, Mr. Sumlin plays his Gibson Les Paul on a calmest manner ever possible but you still got the feeling of playing by great master and that's a sign of a master. Only a few Blues guitar players could ever do that. Mr. Sumlin is a true Blues Guitar Boss!
It is a very good Blues album.
Personnel: Hubert Sumlin (vocals, guitar); Richard Studholme (guitar, upright bass, bass guitar, background vocals); Jack Hill (piano, Hammond b-3 organ); Steve Thorneycroft (drums).
