John Primer - All Original (Blues House Productions, 2008)

This 2008 release represents 12 songs, recorded for John’s own label Blues House Productions. No doubt, this is Chicago blues and the band performs like true Chicago band but some feeling of imperfection gets you after you listen the whole album.
Guitar work could be considered average to good. Guitar on I Called My Baby is really cool, in best traditions of slide guitar, on Blue Eyed Woman you find Muddy influenced guitar drive, but the best song and truly original should be acoustic Love In My Heart For You. Besides this, guitar could be distinguished on At Home Alone. On the rest of the songs John does below his abilities. Generally, guitar throughout the album sounds like one of Muddy Waters’, who, for instance, is John’s idol and mentor. After finishing listening first feeling I got I have already heard it number of times.
What makes this album be rated above average is work of two sidemen - Harmonica Hinds on harp and David Ross on piano/organ.
