18.01.1933. Gospel influenced southern soul singer, Vernon Garrett was born in Omaha, NE.

18.01.1935. Kokomo Arnold cut two songs for Decca in Chicago, Illinois.

18.01.1951. Ralph Willis featuring Brownie McGhee recorded "Income Tax Blues", "Bed Tick Blues", "Too Late To Scream And Shout" and "Hoodoo Man" for Jubilee in New York, NY. Dumas Ransom was in charge of bass and drums.

18.01.1960. Flamboyant pianist and singer of Blues, Gladys Bentley died in Los Angeles, CA at the age of 52.
