21.01.1936. Blues, rock and roll, jazz and country musician, Snooks Eaglin was born in New Orleans, Louisiana.

21.01.1942. Count Basie and His Orchestra recorded "One O'Clock Jump".

21.01.1942. Butler twins, Clarence (harmonica, vocals) and Curtis (guitar), were born in Florence, AL.

21.01.1948. Chicago Blues singer Zora Young was born in West Point, Mississippi.

21.01.1948. Bull Moose Jackson went on No. 1 with "I Love You Yes I Do" on US R&B chart for three weeks overturning Julia Lee and Her Boy Friends with "(Opportunity Knocks But Once) Snatch and Grab It".

21.01.1965. The Animals' show at New York's Apollo Theater is canceled after the U.S. Immigration Department forced the group to leave the theater.

21.01.1968. Jimi Hendrix recorded his version of the Bob Dylan song '‘All Along the Watchtower’' at Olympic Studios in London. Rolling Stone Brian Jones and Dave Mason from Traffic both played on the session.

21.01.1982. B.B. King donated his entire record collection of over 20,000 discs to Mississippi University's centre for the Study of Southern Culture.

21.01.1999. Blus and R&B singer and piano player who had two number one hits, Blues Hall Of Fame inductee (1996), Charles Brown died of congestive heart failure in Oakland, California at the age of 76.

21.01.2003. Blues Express released Bettye LaVette's album A Woman Like Me, winner of 2004 Blues Music Awards in Comeback Blues Album Of The Year category. Album was also nominated for 2004 Blues Music Awards in Blues Album Of The Year and Soul Blues Album Of The Year categories.

21.01.2008. Blues drummer known as "the ambassador" at the annual San Francisco Blues Festivals, Francis Clay died in San Francisco, CA, aged 84.

21.01.2008. Odetta was the keynote speaker at San Diego's Martin Luther King, Jr. commemoration.

21.01.2011. Fred Sanders’ funeral was hold at the New Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church at 4920 Horn Lake Road, Memphis, Tennessee.
